Goodwill is a great resource for vintage silver serving pieces. Since Downton Abbey is on hiatus, we have to find something to pass the time right? Last week I promised a video on how to bring your Goodwill silver pieces back to life. Our video was featured on Downton Abbey Cooks (eeeeeeeee!) *She kindly points out the fact that we are referring to Afternoon Tea when we are talking about High Tea. Visit Downton Abbey Cooks to get the entire lowdown on all things Downton Abbey and tea!
In the video we are demonstrating the good old fashioned polishing method instead of the aluminum foil method. To try the aluminum foil method you need to crumple up some aluminum foil in the bottom of your sink, add boiling water and a few tablespoons of baking soda. The tarnish will be attracted to the aluminum saving yourself from the polishing. I tried both, and to be honest I found the polishing creme to be more efficient. I actually enjoy spending the time polishing. But then again I love to iron.
Enjoy the process and invite your friends to tea.
