Goodwill Shorts DIY

This is my friend Katie.  I like to refer to her as my Summer Intern.  It makes all of our business lunches and trips to Starbucks seem very professional!  We picked up these vintage floral jeans at Goodwill on Parker Road.

Cute but in an 80′s way.  We were looking for shorts.  This is how we made it happen.

We made a mark on the jeans with a Sharpie.  Make sure you cut them a little LONG if you plan of cuffing them.  We were looking for cute and appropriate NOT Daisy Duke.

Use fabric scissors to cut the denim.

Fold them so that one leg is on top of the other.  Once you have cut the first leg, then it is easier to cut the second one.  Just follow the line of the first.

You can straighten out the lines here if you need to.

Perfect!  Now you can cuff them or fray the bottom.

Great length.

The things we learned.  Jeans were high waisted in the 80′s.  Seriously high waisted.  She was shocked!

Vintage sizing is different.  Normally vintage sizes are much smaller than today’s sizing.  You really have to try vintage things on to see if they will fit.  These jeans were marked as a size 5, but Katie normally wears a 3 so you just never know!  Try things on.  Great vintage floral jean shorts for $5.99 not bad!!
