Goodwill Home Decor

I love to have a beautiful home but I want to have beauty on a budget.  This is when shopping at Goodwill is your best best for high quality merchandise at a significant savings!  I decided to fill an urn with succulents, I am sure you have seen them all over the internet.  The difference is that we only paid $3.99 for our Goodwill container.

Right on budget.

We drilled a small drainage hole in the bottom.  Don’t worry about it.  It was less than four bucks.  Relax.

Done.

Now add some small rocks for drainage.

(You could just grab some from your yard.  They don’t have to be fancy.)

But these look pretty for a picture.

Now just add in your succulents.

Look how fun this can be on a sunny afternoon.  Take your kids to Goodwill and see what little containers they can plant in.  They can learn about recycling, keeping “green”, all sorts of earth friendly lessons without even realizing it!

I love the rustic urn with the beautiful cacti.  I chose a blooming one because I like a little bit of color.

Here is my finished Goodwill cacti garden on a Goodwill tray, placed upon a Goodwill table. Is this what you think of when you hear the word “Goodwill”?  It should be.

  1. Love it! I have the same tray, also from Goodwill, sitting here on my computer desk. It perfectly corrals all of the miscellaneous papers that accumulate. And it looks great with a small vase, from Goodwill, that holds the pens and pencils.

  2. If you ever see Van Briggle incised on the bottom of a pot, Do Not Poke a hole into it. They are a famous pottery from Colorado Springs. I just reclaimed a tiny off white pot from the early 50′s from there from my mom. Cotton balls, anyone?
