Thrifting Denver

Thrift Envy

Today we will be covering a very common thrifting malady called “Thrift Envy”.  It happens when you are glancing at someone’s cart and you realize that they found the perfect thing!  I suffer from it frequently.

Lets take last Sunday for example.  The employees brought out a new rack of clothing, so as I’m walking over I notice a very nice lady pick out two pair of jeans.  The first pair were Sevens, the second pair were Rock Revival, and the third pair were Miss Me.  Her hand was lingering on the Miss Me pair, but she moved on.  Here she is with her treasures.

I know you are suffering right now.

I am suffering myself.

I did keep the Miss Me Jeans for myself. My niece will lose her mind, she asked me to be on the lookout for her!

  1. ah! I LOVE those sevens!!!

My boyfriend picked up a pair of jeans and says, “sweet, I’ll wear these for work.”

…. mind you, he works in concrete construction ….

I looked at the brand and noticed that they were $150+ pair of Seven jeans. I was so jealous that I have been on the hunt for Goodwill Sevens since then.

  2. Oh yes, Thrift Envy, I think I’ve heard of it but have never fallen victim. All those who are suffering are in my thoughts.

    In deep denial,

    The Goodwill Gal

  3. I’ve had Thrift Envy but luckily never with such great finds as those jeans? How much did those jeans cost?

My local GW prices them up too high IMO.

  4. Haven’t we all had envy at the thrift?
Today I picked up a beautiful faux sea coral piece. It was pretty! Perfect and only $6. The original price tag said it was from a fancy home decor store and marked $40. Yikes! As I looked it over a nice older lady oohed and ahhed. She asked if I was going to buy it. Nope. Doesn’t go with my home decor. Her eyes light up as I handed it to her. Are you sure she asked?
I like to call that karma. It will come back to me, right?

  5. How can someone find a treasure when I was just looking there and did not see it! I’ve had people ask me at Goodwill for something in my cart they really need or want. Really amazing! Warm hugs, Esther

  6. Sadly I have thrift envy every time I read your blog! No joke!

I am always amazed (and thankful) at the things that people donate! What a find those jeans were!!!
