I love these glass Bell Jars from Z Gallerie, but I can’t say that I wanted to pay $59.95! So I did the next best thing. I went to Goodwill to see if I could DIY one for myself for a lot LESS!
Ahhhh here we go! A glass clock from Goodwill.
Each Goodwill prices their pieces differently so you might want to check the prices. You want one that doesn’t work!
Just carefully remove the tape, and take everything apart.
You aren’t going to use the clock parts.
I had to manhandle this part without breaking it!! I am a little klutzy so it is a Miracle that it didn’t break.
Spay paint the ugly brass part and then use E600 glue to replace the brass part over the base.
Seeeee!? Much better!
Viola!! A beautiful glass cloche for my vintage camera! I like $8.00 way better than $59.95 don’t you?

When I was a kid, in the 50′s or so, Everyone had one of those clocks. I think they were 500 day clocks, or something. After a while they stopped working, so there should be hundreds of thousands of these lurking around thrift stores. Great idea.

Incredible idea, will definitely use this one. As for the the clock parts, mixed media artists and steampunk lovers would totally use those for arting & crafting!

Peace,
I was hoping the clock parts were usable, but it was just a sticker pasted onto plastic parts. I think taking a clock apart is a GREAT IDEA!! The wheels are turning!

I finished this project about a week ago and never posted it. I see we are channeling the same ideas. Love yours!
